Serving children from Expanded Transitional-Kindergarten through 6th grade, Toland Way provides valuable resources and learning opportunities in an exciting and encouraging learning environment. Be involved positively in your child's education

ready set gold - Shevon Stoddart

This grant our school received brings an Olympic Athlete to work with 5th grade students on physical activity and healthy eating habits as they prepare for the Fitness Gram during February and March.

Toland Way is lucky to have Shevon Stoddart.

Shevon is a 2-time Jamaican Olympian who is an outstanding 400 meter hurdler as well as a talented singer. Shevon was a member of both the 2004 and 2008 Jamaican Olympic teams and competed at the 2005 IAAF World Championships. Her personal best in the event is 54.47.

Stoddart was born in Kingston, Jamaica. At the early age of 5, she moved to Uniondale, New York. Her track career started in middle school, and by 9th grade, she was ranked #3 in the state of New York in the 400 meters. It wasn’t until her sophomore year when the 400 intermediate hurdles was introduced, which Shevon quickly dominated.

Shevon received a full scholarship from the University of South Carolina and majored in Advertising and a minored in Business. Stoddart made her first Olympic team in 2004 as a junior in college and made her first World Championship team in 2005.

Shevon is currently ranked top 10 in the world. She is living and training in Los Angeles, where she is preparing for the 2016 Olympic Games, which will be held in Rio, Brazil.

Shevon will meet and greet the students on November 30 during assemblies in the auditorium.

Romeo & Juliet vs. Ronny and Julie

The Toland Way Drama Club performed at the Eastside Arts Festival. They staged an original play  "Romeo and Juliet vs. Ronny and Julie". written by Ms Wright and her drama students.  The theater troop also performed for Toland Way faculty, students and staff.
